**UPDATE** **DATE TBC** THE BIG WHODUNIT POSTCARD PROJECT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ROTHERHAM HOSPICE
Update – We are still open for entries and have not set exhibition dates as yet.
The Big WhodunNit Postcard Project is a creative and fun partnership aimed at raising money for two fantastic community causes through the beauty of art.
The project coordinated by Gallery Town aims to achieve £25,000 to be split equally between Rotherham Hospice, a vital self-funded service that offers palliative and end of life care to the boroughs community and Gallery Town, an arts project that seeks to regenerate the surrounding community through the medium of art & culture.
The project involves asking celebrities, local and national dignitaries, artists of all abilities, sports stars, hospice supporters, schoolchildren and more to join in the fun and create their own personal works of art on an A5 piece of blank card. The project hopes to have around 500 works of individual art by the time the bidding starts with ALL proceeds being split equally between the two causes. Artists already signed up include Brian Blessed (Actor & Adventurer), Howard Webb MBE (World Cup Football Final Referee), Liz White (Actress – Life on Mars), Connor McIntyre (Actor – Coronation Street), Sarah Champion (MP and Shadow Minster for Preventing for Violence and Abuse) and Pollyanna Pickering (UK’s most published artist) with more signing up by the day.
A list of all the participants will be published for public viewing…
…However there is a Big Whodunit Postcard Project Twist.
The artworks will only be signed on the back of the card meaning no one will know whose work they are bidding for, unless of course they are the winning bidder. That means you could end up paying very little for an original work of art by a famous artist or celebrity that may end up being worth thousands of pounds; this is where the art detective in you may take over.
All interested artists from amazing to amateur from Hockney to hopeless are encouraged to join in the fun and will receive a pack containing an A5 size piece of blank card. The art created is completely up to you, the artist; you can create whatever you wish and be as vibrant and humorous as you like. Examples of various mediums include but are not exclusive of pencil drawings, graphic designs, cartoons, photography, CGI, collages, paintings of any kind, crayons and so on.
For more information or to receive your pack containing an A5 piece of card please contact Ged Omar via email at gallerytown@outlook.com or via phone on 01709 970134.
If you already have a piece of A5 blank card and would like to support the project you can create your work of art, then sign it on the back and send it to – Gallery Town, Reginald Arthur House, 2-8 Percy Street, Rotherham, S65 1ED. We can’t wait to hear from you.
