Die Back by Nigel Senior

Die Back by Nigel Senior

Die Back by Nigel Senior can be found on Riverside Precinct and is a work from Nigel's Green Zoo series. This is an on-going project using inspiration and images from the natural world as metaphors for aspects of the human condition. Boundaries between plant, animal and the environment are blurred as each takes on features and characteristics of the whole. This painting is concerned with the natural cycle of life and death how nothing ever vanishes or is destroyed; only transformed. Nigel’s work presents images of the particular; familiar places and things re-imagined. Its essence, however, is of the universal. He focuses on themes and issues that affect all of us, such as identity, self-image, hopes, fears, a need to belong, feelings of isolation, death... Nigel says I suppose at heart I’m a surrealist in that much of my work has been an attempt to delve into the subconscious. Producing art for me is as much an inwards-gazing meditation as it is a physical process. Nigel creates works in a range of media: oils, acrylics, watercolour, papier-mâché and print-making - or anything that comes to hand. In fact, virtually anything can become an artist's materials.
