Interior of a Dutch Courtyard by Pieter de Hooch

Dutch Golden Age painter Pieter de Hooch was born in Rotterdam in 1629. His works consisted mainly of calm domestic scenes, often featuring an open doorway. De Hooch's paintings were thought to be inspired by his home life, as he made the switch to this particular theme of families after starting his own in the mid 1650s.
