Pollyanna Pickering – The UK’s Most Published Artist, has followed Howard Webb MBE the projects Patron for Culture, and agreed to become Gallery Town’s Art Patron. Pollyanna is acclaimed as one of Europe’s foremost wildlife artists and her work sells in over eighty countries world wide. Trained at Rotherham School of Arts Pollyanna states that she feels she owes” a great debt to (her) years at Rotherham Art School, where (she) began (her) art studies.” Also patron for the Wildlife Art Society International, Pollyanna had this to say when asked about her new status within Gallery Town, “I am delighted to accept the role of Project Arts Patron for Gallery Town.  I grew up on the outskirts of the town – and still feel a close affinity to Rotherham.  This is a wonderful project, and I am sure it will help to inspire a new generation of creative talent in the area.” A familiar face on TV; the most recent documentary focusing on her work, ‘Made in England’, was broadcast on BBC 1. In 2012 she was awarded the most prestigious International Award in the field of Wildlife Art – The Artists for Conservation’s Simon Combes Conservation Award. Pollyanna is passionate about wildlife and equally passionate about accurately interpreting her subjects. She is a champion of environmental conservation, both on the national and international stage, and is an indefatigable campaigner for the welfare of endangered, sick and vulnerable creatures. Her paintings will be familiar to most people from her extensive ranges of fine art prints and cards, many commissioned by charities including the WWF, Guide Dogs for the Blind and the RSPB. Pollyanna designs exclusive gift ware for Harrods, and has painted postage stamps for African Countries, and first day covers for the Royal Mail. Pollyanna’s determination to paint only animals which she has observed in their natural habitats has lead her into a remarkable and unique series of expeditions into some of the most inhospitable areas of the globe. In 2007, Pollyanna was granted a fellowship from Canada based society Artists for Conservation Foundation in support of the expedition into Bhutan. She is accompanied on her journeys by her daughter and business partner Anna-Louise who also writes the text and contributes the photography to the books.

Gallery Town Patron Announced – Howard Webb MBE

Former World Cup Final Referee and now the main man in charge of all the English Premier League Referees, Howard Webb, has thrown his support behind Gallery Town and agreed to become a Patron for the cultural regeneration project. Rotherham born and raised and a former pupil of Rotherham College, Howard has gone on to achieve amazing successes within the Sporting world. Howard first became involved in Gallery Town, when a commissioned piece of art by a local artist was unveiled in Rotherham Town Centre, depicting him during his refereeing career. Following this, Howard has kept in contact with the Project and has agreed to be a public face of the project based upon the influence Gallery Town has on the young within Rotherham’s community to express their creative side. On accepting becoming a Patron for Gallery Town Howard had this to say ”

“I am a firm supporter of any project that helps inspire the young in our community and Gallery Town does. Having spent my career within Football I understand the important role Sport has to play in encouraging children to grow in confidence, dare to dream and aim to achieve. I believe creative arts also have an important role to play in nurturing children’s aspirations and self-belief and any project that enhances this experience like Gallery Town does has my backing. Rotherham has received nationwide attention in recent times for various reasons. That said, we must remember that all the young in our community who live here and grow up here should not feel that they are in an adverse environment. They should be inspired to achieve in every way possible be that sport, art, music or any other activity.”
